Throughout every Mac app, dragging a folder to the "Save as" dialog window will instantly set the destination folder.

Here is an example of this behavior in InDesign CC for Mac:

However, in Blender, dragging a folder strips the name of the file, which then saves it as an invisible file that cannot be found in the folder:

Destination folder is set correctly, no bug there. It does strip the filename, leaving only suffix. You should name your files anyway, hitting save indeed will create "invisible" file because you have saved it with ".blend" name.

If you name the file first, then drag the folder, the name you entered gets deleted still.

Yes, that is confirmed, that's why I changed the title.
