System Information
Mint 17.3 (x86_64)/Windows7 x64 | 8GB ram| PhenomII 1090T| Radeon R9 270 (fglrx 15.201.1151)

Blender Version
Broken: (2.69 << O_o!!! >> 2.79.1 e476298)
Worked: (???)

Short description of error
transUV_bug.png
Copying UV's on objects called by irony of doom 'UV Sphere' has strange mystery results, not only with 'transfer uv maps' but with over ways of uv copying such as 'magic-uv copy' too. Monkeyhead has no this trouble.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
uv_transfer_bug.blend

  1. Take a one standard UV Sphere with adequate UV
  2. Take a one standard UV Sphere without UV
  3. Select them such way as first be active and second was selected too
  4. Cast Ctrl+L>Transfer UV Maps
  5. Watch the difference between UVs in image editor

Explanations are probably not enough detailed about this kind of transfer in manual.
Having same geometry is not a sufficient condition to expect a successful transfer.

You need faces with matching indices, too.

You have to enter edit mode of meshes and sort mesh elements with same method.
In provided.blend, you enter edit mode of one sphere and use Sort Mesh Elements operator to order faces according View Z Axis.
Then redo same thing for the other sphere.
And now, that faces indices are matching, you can expect a successful transfer of UVmap.

@zeauro said pretty much all. No bug here.

Also please avoid calling a regression something that "is not working" since at least 10 versions. ;)
