Cycles Rendering Discrepancy

Description

There has been a change in the behaviour of Cycles rendering since 2.78c. The enclosed .blend file

illustrates this. Rendered in 2.78c, the eyeballs are nice and white; try the same thing in 2.79-rc2, and the whiteness has disappeared into the background.

The change in behaviour happened after commit rBbb8f7784ce1b159cd47d0f960589a18c90ceb32f.

The Cornea material has BSDFs linked to the Volume socket, if you link those to the correct Surface socket it works again.

I'm not sure immediately if the new or old behavior is more correct, needs a closer look.

You are right, I didn’t notice I’d done that by accident.

This is due to rB4a04d7ae8930: Fix T51553: Cycles Volume Emission turns black when strength is 0 or color is…. I think the new behavior is more correct and required to fix that other bug, even if it means breaking compatibility for this case.
