Weird black lines for objects that are far away from origo

I tested this in 2.77a and 2.79 and it occurs in both of them.

So, when I move an object far away from origo, say, 40000 units, it gets weird shading. Black lines all over it. This can't be the expected behavior, can it? How am I supposed to make large scenes with this?

Event Timeline

Seems that is a Floating point imprecision issue similar to T47194. Not sure if anything can be done about it.

This is known issue, which has some WIP patch D1212. Still needs some work to avoid shading artifacts in hair.
