Short description of error
Create 2 cube
turn on snapping.
cant snap to vertex, face etc,
Insert another cube
turn on snapping. it will not snap and not link vertex.
Merge also not working

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

I have none obvious problem with snapping under linux.

Thanks for the report but it would be helpful if you add a blend-file to the report that demonstrates the issue at hand.

May be a .blend would be good to look into because my snapping is working great here in win 7 geforce gtx 550ti. Blender 2.79 and master as well.

I got it to snap properly but I still have issues with the following function:--

Automatically merge vertices moved to the same location.

Can someone help me with a better step by step instructions.

This function is only working in edit mode to merge vertices belonging to different parts of same mesh object.

Manual needs a correction Double Threshold limit is under Mesh Options panel not Mesh Tools panel.

It looks like you never used this function.
Is it a general support issue and not a software error we can investigate ?
