Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Although depth is more meaningful name, it is breaking consistency. Suggestion: we bring back the old behavior or we change everywhere to z-depth or depth.

@Lukas Stockner (lukasstockner97) , please either fix the issue, or report that you can not work on it now and assign to other maintainer. But we would really expect a developer who broke things, to fix them back.

Can someone show some love over here, this change has broke many workflow, tutorials, even the manual. It will be great to have this in Blender2.9a.

This would be good to fix, but it doesn't seem particularly urgent/critical. There are no node links lost when loading old files, even in the official 2.79 release, so it's mostly a cosmetic thing.
