Blender Version
Broken: 2.79

Short description of error
MeasureIt displays incorrect measurements when shape keys are used.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Start with the default cube project (or any project really)
  • Make sure MeasureIt addon is enabled
  • Add a “Segment” measurement between any vertices of a cube or any other object
  • Make sure to click “Show” in MeasureIt tools (otherwise the measurements are not displayed)
  • Add something to “Shape Keys” of an object. Edit the object accordingly so that its size is affected by the keys
  • Set the value of a shape key to anything other than 0 (e.g. 0.5)

You will see that shape keys do not affect the measurement unless you go to the edit mode with Tab key (in edit mode the size is displayed correctly).

Attached files
Blend file that demonstrates the issue. Most likely you will have to click “Show” in “MeasureIt Tools” because by default the measurements are hidden:

Screenshots of the issue in object and edit modes. Note that it edit mode the measurement is displayed correctly:

This is not a bug, but a unsupported function. Currently the add-on is not designed to be used with shape keys.
