bam.pack doesn't pack simulation cache data
Closed, ArchivedPublic

System Information
Windows 10

Short description of error
Running python -m bam.pack --input <input> --output <output> will not pack simulation cache data (I've only tested with particle cache)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Unzip the attached file and notice that the blend file has a simulation cache. Than run the following commands:

cd <path to source>
python -m bam.pack --input bam_pack_bug.blend --output ../output/packed.blend --mode FILE

If you open up the packed file you'll see that there isn't any cache data for the particles.

Note the relationship with simulation data to data-blocks is not 1:1.

The range of frames used for the simulation may be incomplete - it ends up being simplest to glob all files matching known used file prefix. IIRC this is already done for image sequences.

I'm making sure this is handled in BAT🦇; see commit 8ae400acbeb.

Superseeded by BAT🦇

BAM has been superseded by Blender Asset Tracer (BAT). BAT supports many of the features of BAM, and is actively being developed. All open tasks regarding BAM are closed, and the project will be set to read-only. If you use BAM in your own project, please consider migrating to BAT.
