Broken: (2.79 and 2.79a)
Worked: ( on OSX , MAC)

Short description of error
Hiden object in Texture Paint Mode reappear.

Long description of error
In 1 object add 2 box. Select 1 mesh box then Hide .
Go to TexturePaint Mode
The hidden mesh Reappear ! (on Mac OSX it works, but not with PC)

I can confirm it works like that on PC but not on Mac.

It should work if you enable Face Selection for masking by pressing M.

I am not sure if PC behaviour is not the intended behaviour and Mac behaviour is not the weird one.

If you're talking about hiding mesh in EDIT mode, then this more or less sounds as an expected behavior. Painting modes will only repsect edit mesh visibility flags when face selection making is enabled (cube with textured face in header, or M-key). If that maskign is not enabled, the whole mesh will be visible (similar to object mode).

Different behaivor on Mac and PC might be caused by different startup files, for example.

So thanks for the report, but i don't see bug here currently.

Allright Sergey,
True : when 'Face Selection Masking' button is active the hidden faces dissapear. I didn't think about that because normally i select all the faces i want hid in edit mode then switch to paint texture mode to hid the selection with this button.
