Cannot add to selection of objects with Shift and Border Selection on Maya shortcuts #54442

System Information
Intel Core i7, 8 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7700
Windows 7 x64
Blender Version
Broken: 2.79.0 b65933e
Worked: 2.79b f4dc9f9d68

Something very strange is going on while I'm trying to select multiple objects while holding Shift and using Border selection on Maya and 3D Max shortcuts.

Open default Blender scene, switch to Maya and do this in that particular order:

  • Select everything by dragging a box selection around all objects with left mouse button
  • Deselect everything by clicking outside of objects with left mouse button
  • Select Cube and Lamp by dragging a box selection around them with left mouse button
  • Hold Shift and try to add Camera to the selection by dragging a box selection around it
  1. In 2.79b it will add to the selection as expected.
  2. In latest builds it will deselect Cube and Lamp and select only Camera instead. The same thing happens with 3D Max and holding Ctrl.

It feels like something is wrong with deselecting objects by clicking outside of them.

Can confirm this. I'll claim and try my luck, but not very high priority atm

Tested 2.79.6 0a968510bf and it looks like the problem got worse - I have opened Blender, switched to Maya controls and wasn't able to add to selection by holding Shift right away; the same exact thing happens with 3DS Max controls and using Ctrl (open Blender, switch to Max or Maya controls, drag border selection around two objects to select them and then try to add the third one by holding Shift or Ctrl and dragging border selection around it). I have tried to fiddle with shortcuts to find a workaround but I wasn't able to find any solutions.

@SpectreFirst: Sorry this has been lying around quite some time.

With everything new in 2.8 (shiny Industry Compatible keymap etc, selection changed quite a bit, ...) and only critical bugfixes going into 2.79, I dare to close this.
This works fine in 2.8 with both blender and Industry Compatible keyconfigs.
