On Linux for instance, some of the packaging for different distros can use different versions of Blender (developer builds that had issues that since then were addressed, customize the build libraries and other modifications). In doubt, it's better to download the official builds as those can eliminate possible issues and are the most current (as there is a daily new version). So try the official build 2.79b from Blender org.

Setting as Incomplete, until additional information is provided.

this is a packaging error on ubuntu, nothing we can do about that from our side, grab a build from http://www.blender.org and it'll work.

Installed the Official version from the DLed Blender.org version "blender-2.79b-linux-glibc219-x86_64" and it all runs like Swiss Clockwork.
I'm in Heaven...
