When selecting this option from the 'Display' panel (right-hand side of the UV/Image Editor window) when two objects are using the same texture, according to this tutorial (https://www.blendernation.com/2016/09/24/tutorial-display-uv-maps-multiple-objects/) the UV/Image Editor should display other objects' UV maps, but that doesn't appear the case.

Please see the simple blend file included for example:

20180501_uv_draw_other_objects_0002.blend

All I did was created two objects (Cube and Sphere), unwrapped them individually. Then using the default 'Material', create a built-in texture (Colour Grid). Allocate the same texture to both objects. Tab into the edit mode on one object and select the image for the background of UV overlay, press 'N' to open the panel on the right, click on the 'Draw Other Objects' option. According to the tutorial, you should see UV of other objects, which helps you to position the active UV map to a different location of the texture image. This is not the case here.

It works, but both objects have to selected in object mode prior to entering editmode on the active object.
If you look closely they are overlayed in shallow grey.
