System Information
Running "Windows 7 Home Primium
Using an Nvidia G-Force 760 graphics card
Using a Plasma flat screen on the HDMI jack.
resolution is 1080 on the plasma and 1620 on the sync monitor

Blender Version
2.79.b or any previous version

It worked until I attempted to install a python script that I had downloaded as a "Word" file and copied into the editor.

Now it will not display the "System" in the "User Preference"
In the menu for choosing the materials there is nothing. Not even for choosing the material type or color, and there is no preview.
I had to go into the "Node Editor" to choose the "Shader" and then the shader showed in the "Materials"

I tried resetting the settings for the graphics board.

Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) triaged this task as Needs Information from User priority.

Seems like we would need more information:

  • mind sharing that python script?
  • if this is a proper addon: can you disable it?
  • have you tried resetting to factory defaults [File > Load Factory Settings]?

marking as incomplete for the time being...
