Short description of error
When using for example, solidify modifier material index offset, and combining subsurface scattering and volume emission, either blender crashes on CPU render, or CUDA error on GPU. Attached is output from terminal with --factory-startup --debug-cycles arguments.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Most reliable seems to be preview render, adjust the SSS texture blur in attached file. Crash on CPU or error on GPU is almost instant in every case.
