Crash for everyone or just me? #55064

Windows 10, 64 bit, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, 16gb ram, i7 3770 3.4GHz

Blender 2.79

Crashes, freezes up, stuck processing.

Start default scene
Delete cube
Add monkey head
Apply subdivision modifier (default settings)
Apply another subdivision modifier (default settings)
Then apply skin modifier, at this point the program just hangs until force closing.

If it doesn't crash for you trying this simple step by step then obviously its just my end but its a simple thing to check so thought it was worth throwing out there.

Following the steps it didn't crash, and the skin modifier issues a „hull error“ warning. Any other information and examples about the problem?
