System Information
Operating system and graphics card
MacOS High Sierra,
Macbook Pro 2017 15"
2.8ghz - 3.8 turbo boost Intel Core i7,
16GB RAM
Radeon Pro 560 4GB Graphics GPU + Intel HD Graphics 630 1.5GB

Blender Version
Broken: 2.79
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Blender Animation render not working, neither image sequence, nor the video options.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I have attached a earth rotation animation blender file. I have been trying to render the 250 frames as a PNG image sequence or as a video file. Both of them are failing. Blender seems to show the render progress bar, but nothing is exported to the output folder.

Uploading all files necessary. Please resolve this. Stuck since 16 hours, unable to proceed. I am new to blender. Please tell me what am I doing wrong.

Renders fine here.

  • tip: you dont need a million polys to render a sphere
  • do you render this on the GPU? Or CPU?
  • could you run blender from the commandline with the --debug-cycles and paste the output here as a .txt file? (dont paste walls of text here directly). this may tell us a bit more...

Marking as incomplete until we have an answer...

Thanks for the reply. What did you mean by "tip: you dont need a million polys to render a sphere"

I am new to blender and am not well-versed with the jargon yet. I use GPU compute and also have selected OpenCL GPUs in the user preferences.

There was some error, when I first tried it, but now I could render it. But the problem I faced was, after so much of optimization and using plugins like auto-tilesize and other settings to reduce the render time, the simple sphere render took 10 minutes per frame. And I had 250 frames in the animation, and the total time for the render was more than a day.

Why does it render so slowly even with the highend GPU and GPUcompute on?

I am planning to work on a lot of VFX shots and such speed will seriously be a problem.

Hi,

If I understand correctly, this issue is now solved?
Regarding rendering speed: there are probably ways to achieve this (reducing geometry resolution, sampling strategies, ...), but this is more of a general support issue and not a software error we can investigate.

For general issues, check on support sites such as:

If you still think you have found a bug, please give exact steps to redo the error.

Closing.
