This task is to keep track of issues with the new 2.8x color scheme.

  • Selected Text
In general text selection seems quite inconsistent.
  • Contrast of text in text editor is very low, (initially I couldn't see it).
  • Selected text from a number button is gray on green.
  • Selected text from a text button is green on gray.
  • Selected text from a tab button is dark-gray on gray.
  • Button Highlight
    • Toolbar buttons are dark when active.
    • Menu items are light when active.
    • Enum buttons are dark when active.
    • Some toggle buttons are green when active (id "fake-user" for eg).
    • Other toggle buttons may be light gray when active (material "use nodes" for eg).
  • Sliders
    • If you hover your cursor over a slider, the contrast is very low until you click on it.
  • Outliner
    • Hard to tell difference between active and all other items (text highlight is close to regular text)

3D View

    • Grey wire gives low contrast in quite common cases: eg new_theme_contrast.png

Will the colored version of the theme be the default one? As much as I like it I have to agree that colored UI is not ideal for sensitive color work.

Didn't Pablo say that Flatty dark should be changed to be dark gray instead of blueish? Gray would be great

I'd like to have the gray one as default, but also that the blue one is shipped with blender aswell, because I personally prefer that one

Yes, gray is better, blue hurt the eyes, looks cool, but needs more effort fo focus due to the shorter wavelength.
In long term might make us get tired way faster than with red/green-ish or gray.
Specially contrasting with the orange selections in 3D view which has longer wavelength and, switching between panels and 3D view will make your eye keep micro-managing the focus and in certain circumstance even cause headaches..

Also, this theme is a bit too dark.

Just wanted ot mention that many of these issues have been tackled already, as this task was using the Blueberry version of Flatty Dark.

There is a user-feedback thread at devtalk as well.
