Short description of error
Selecting Align-X: Right puts it left. { And the other way around }

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open Blender
  • Go to the 'VideoEditing'-Workspace
  • Click add in the VSE-Sequencer area
  • Go to Effect-Strip
  • Click on Text
  • look in the right Side-Panel
  • Scroll down to the 'Effect-Strip' collapse able menu
  • Select in the 'Align X'-Drop down Left or Right

I'm just curious, Blender 2.8 crash ?? Or 'crash report only' is said only to make noise?

Closing.

As stated earlier, we are currently only accepting crash reports for 2.8. Furthermore, in this case, the behaviour here is the same as it was in master, and is the same as what happens for Text objects.

Admittedly the current behaviour is a bit unintuitive compared to other apps. But, this is due to a difference of approach: typical apps will define a fixed size textbox, and then shunt the text around within that box; in Blender, we instead line up each row relative to an origin point. As seen below, "Align Left" works by lining up the left-most edge of each line of text with the origin point, while "Align Right" lines up the right-most edge of each line.
