UI: Trackball orbit not as responsive when 3dview is full screen #56103

System Information
Windows 10, GeForce 1080

Blender Version
2.79b

Short description of error
The size of the 3D View affects how responsive Trackball orbiting (camera) is.
Larger views feel less responsive. This makes orbiting with trackball mode quite slow when sculpting or during other full screen 3D work mode.
Turntable Orbit style does not seem to be affected in the same way and is responsive regardless of area size

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In User Prefs>Input switch Orbit Style to Trackball
Make a 3D View small relative to the monitor size
Orbit the view a full 360 and note the speed/responsiveness.

Then,

Make the 3D View full screen
Orbit the view a full 360 and note the speed/responsiveness

Trackball orbit style would be more usable in full screen mode if it were a bit faster.
It may also be useful for the user to be able to adjust the orbit speed (for both trackball and turntable modes), like a slider or multiplier, similar to what 'walk navigation' or NDOF have.

I’ll let @ideasman42 make final decision here, but for me that is expected behavior, since trackball is indeed relative to window size, bigger window will make rotation slower, more precise…

I also think that this is the expected behavior. This makes possible to orbit the view on small viewport sizes with a pen tablet, where you don't have infinite movement. Also, a Orbit Sensitivity property was added to the navigation options in 2.81, which lets you control the viewport orbit speed.
