No Vector Displacement On Instances
Open, NormalPublic

Description

System Information
Windows 10 x64

Blender Version
2.79.4

Short description of error
Vector displacement doesnt work with instances, It mirrors the displacement on the first object, Im sure this is working as intended but there are many cases where you need to displace actual instances as well.

Having a checkbox somewhere to enable instance displacement would be amazing

Thought I should add that this alone uses 3.5 GB of ram ?!?

Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) triaged this task as Needs Information from User priority.Jul 28 2018, 5:38 PM

I agree it would be useful to have, but it's not a bug and so won't be handled in this bug tracker.

For the memory usage, if you think it's a bug please attach a .blend to reproduce the problem.

Bastien Montagne (mont29) raised the priority of this task from Needs Information from User to Normal.

I can´t understand why Vector Displacement not working on instances is not a bug.

If we have vector displacement, and we can use it on, for example, trees, I as an artist would expect to have it properly working on my instanced forest.

Cheers!
