Short description of error
If a blend file is loaded and then rendered the materials of the objects are displayed in a median blur way. If the object is edited and then switched back to object view the materials are displayed correctly

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Start blender with default blender scene
  • Unwrap cube and apply a texture
  • save scene and quit blender
  • start blender again and load the previously saved scene
  • render scene in viewport
  • materials are displayed in median blur
  • edit object and go back to object view
  • materials render now correctly

This is due to a lack of UV maps when switching from solid to rendered mode. This is a known problem and i'll close as duplicate.
