Boolean Modifier does not work as I tried to apply it on a subsurfaced object.
1.Tried to apply the stair-like form to the object lower down through the boolean modifier.Nothing happened.plug.blend

There seem to be two issues here.

  1. The individual stair steps have have overlapping/parallel faces. A workaround to solve that is to move the objects around a little bit.

  2. The individual stair steps have overlapping volumes. Here is a simpler case to reproduce it:

    boolean not working.blend

To solve that in your case you could separate the object into loose parts and subtract them from the subdivided mesh one after the other.

I don't know what we can expect from the current boolean modifier, so I'm not sure if this is a bug or a limitation. Someone else has to take a look.
