Short description of error
Using use_map_density in a script is doing the same as use_map_alpha.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
CASE 1:
import bpy
for mat in bpy.data.materials:

for ts in mat.texture_slots:
    if ts is not None:
        ts.use_map_density = True

CASE 2:
import bpy
for mat in bpy.data.materials:

for ts in mat.texture_slots:
    if ts is not None:
        ts.use_map_alpha = True

Thanks for the report, it does indeed sneakily reuse the same value under the hood for surfaces and volumes. However we have removed Blender Internal and its material texture slots for the next Blender version, so this problem will resolve itself.
