meshediting-bug seen in object-mode

Operating system: mac os 10.14
graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000/GPU

**Blender Version: 2.79b
Broken: (example: 2.69.7 4b206af, see splash screen)

**Short description of error: trying to edit a mesh of a free blendfile /2.76 (from
after editing the bottle-mesh in editmode when returning to objectmode the original form of the mesh appears additional to the edited form of the mesh.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error:
-open file
-select bottle-objects
-go in editmode
-select all faces
-scale selection (x/y)
-return to object-mode
-the old version of the edited mesh appears additional to the edited form of the object (why?


Based on a (as simple as possible) attached .blend file with minimum amount of steps

Sorry this has been lying around for so long.

Some faces are hidden here, and these dont get scaled along with the visible ones.
You can unhide them by Alt +H (or Mesh > Show/Hide > Show Hidden fro the menu)

But there is no bug here, closing...
