Broken: 2.79b, 32432d91bbe, makepkg (modified)

Short description of error
Colour picker dropper tool doesn't work with colour and white balance modifier strips. First attempt to use it after starting blender works. Second attempt (and subsequent attempts) always fails. Restarting blender fixes the issue for the first attempt.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Start Blender and open a .blend file or create a new one
[I added an adjustment layer in my file]
Add a colour balance or white balance modifier strip (will continue steps using the white balance modifier)
Click on the white rectangle under "White value"
Select the dropper tool
Click on a white area of the video

Repeat steps 4-6

Cannot reproduce here...

Does this happen with the newest build from builder.blender.org?
Does this happen with official 2.79b release?
Does this happen anywhere else using colorpicker as well (not just the VSE)?
Do you get any error messages when you run blender from the commandline?
Does this happen when you Load Factory Settings as well?
Does this only happen with a particular movie file (or with any movie)?
Could you share your blendfile (incl. the movie) so we can reproduce?
