Blender 2.8 beta

Hi, I've got a little issue with this new version of blender: I have a blender model with a hair particle system (it was created in the 2.79 version), when I open it in the 2.8 version and connect the hair system, there's an advice down the screen and says "no hair connected (can't connect hair if particle system modifier is disabled)" but there IS a particle system modifier in the modifiers list.

what can I do to solve this?? Because I really want to try the new hair shaders and physics that comes in the new 2.8 version.

Hi Raquel,

It would be really helpful if you could provide the exact details of the Blender 2.8 version that you are encountering this bug.
Kindly open Blender and click on Help-> Splash Screen and provide the Hash and date of the build mentioned in the splash Screen.

Additionally, it would be very useful to debug if you could upload as an attachment in this post the .blend file that you are facing the issue with.

I quickly tried replicating your test case, by creating a simple hair particle system using Blender 2.79 (Hash 5bd8ac9) and then opened it up in the latest Blender 2.8 Beta (Hash 1b6a394d862) and it opens perfectly fine for me as well as renders in EEVEE and CYCLES.

Based on the error message posted above, I would recommend you to try the below steps and let us know further

  1. Open your .blend file in Blender 2.79
  1. Select the mesh and go to the Particle system tab >>Double check that the visibilty(eye) and render(camera) icons against the particlesystem name are both enabled
  1. Save the file and try opening it in the latest Blender 2.8 Beta version by downloading it from

Hope this helps!
