Closed, ArchivedPublic

System Information
Operating system: macOS 10.13.2
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M290X

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 beta
Worked: 2.79b release

Short description of error
When working in orthographic mode, the projection in the viewport switches back automatically to perspective after having selected an orthogonal viewpoint (Top, Bottom, etc).

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Set viewport to orthographic mode
  2. Select a view point using numpad shortcuts or menu View->Viewpoint (Top, Bottom, Front, etc.)
  3. Rotate the scene with the mouse. Viewport projection switches back to Perspective

Event Timeline

Just like in 2.79 this is controlled by the User Preferences -> Interface -> "Auto Perspective" option. The only change is that this is now enabled by Default in 2.8

Disable that option if you like. I appreciate it's the default for me though as I always changed it before though.

Thought it was a bug also. Found it by trying to rotate using number pad. Perhaps this is a bad default? I have no idea why a users would want this behavior.
If I am in orthographic I can't think on any reason I would want to automatically jump back into perspective mode.
Thanks Douglas
