Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 0fe5a789837 8 December 2018

Short description of error

Blender crashes when a plane is displayed in wireframe, if the view is aligned with its side (*e.g.* when looking at a horizontal plane from a numpad 1 or 3 Ortho view).

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open Blender

Then, in any order:

  • Add a Plane mesh
  • hit Z and select "Wireframe"
  • hit numpad 1 or numpad 3

Event Timeline

Nicola De Mitri (nicolasap) renamed this task from Crash every time 2 meshes are displayed in wireframe from Front or Right Ortho mode to Orthographic wireframe view of a plane mesh causes crash.Dec 8 2018, 3:37 PM
Nicola De Mitri (nicolasap) updated the task description. (Show Details)

Further info:

  1. doesn't happen in Edit Mode
  1. doesn't happen with a generic planar face, provided it belongs to a more complex mesh (the default cube alone doesn't cause a crash)
  1. but it doesn't have to be a plane primitive either: removing 4 vertices from the default cube causes the crash. Moving a vertex (locked Z) from a default plane still causes the crash
Bastien Montagne (mont29) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to Normal.

Cannot confirm that here on Debian testing, with embedded intel GPU (HD4600)…

@Clément Foucault (fclem) three different reports with different GPUs and OSs though, there must be something fishy ;)

This was fixed by 64bca2e6486e
