2.80 - Crash on Middle Mouse Button while in Edit Mode after Adding Materials and Mirror Modifier #59878

Short description of error
Upon entering edit mode and clicking the middle mouse button to attempt to rotate, Blender crashed.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Attached Blender File

  • Open the attached blender file
  • Enter Edit Mode
  • Click the middle mouse button

New Blender File

  • Create a new blender file
  • Load the factory settings
  • Enable "Auto Depth" in the preferences
  • Enter the front view by pressing NUMPAD_1
  • Enter Edit Mode
  • Create a loop cut down the middle of the cube by pressing CTRL + R and then right clicking, such that the loop cut is parallel to the Z axis.
  • Press ALT + Z to enable transparency
  • Box select the vertices on the left side of the loop cut and delete them by pressing X and selecting Vertices.
  • Add a mirror modifier and enable clipping. By default it mirrors the X-axis.
  • Create a new material slot by clicking the "+" symbol in the Materials panel. Add a new material by clicking the "+ New" button.
  • Create another material slot by clicking the "+" symbol in the Materials panel. Add a new material by clicking the "+ New" button.
  • Click the middle mouse button in the viewport and it will crash

I can not reproduce this either with a build from 12-27.

Could you retest and see if this is still a problem with a newer build from https://builder.blender.org/download/ ?

I downloaded the latest build from 12-26 and 12-27 and it did not crash.
