Can't select plane objects after changing Display As setting to Wire. #60180

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: AMD radeon

Blender Version 2.80, a77b63c569
Broken:
(example: 2.79b release)
(example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, blender2.8, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (optional)

Can't select plane objects when changing the "Display As" setting to "Wire" under "Viewport Display" tab. Plane object can only be selected when clicking directly on the plane's origin point. This problem seems to only affect planes. Blender 2.79b doesn't have this issue. Tried drawing a selection box with no success either.

Delete default cube (or delete four vertices to convert the cube into a plane object) > add a plane > Go to "Object" > Click on the arrow on the "Viewport Display" tab to reveal the settings, Change the "Display As" setting from "solid" to "wire" >Try to select the plane in the 3d viewport by clicking on the edges of the plane (Plane can only be selected when clicking directly on the plane's origin point).

Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Followed your instructions but couldn't reproduce. I'm using 2.8 c59370bf64 in Linux Ubuntu. Could you provide a .blend file?

I can't reproduce this either. Could you see if you still have this issue with the latest beta build?

Hello Sebastian, hello Jose,

Thank you for taking a look at this issue.

I am still experiencing the same issue. This is what I do:
Add a plane in an empty scene
Go to "Object" settings
Under "Viewport Display tab" change "Display As" to "wire"
Press A or Alt+A to deselect the plane
Try to select the plane again by right clicking on it (At least for me, I can't select the plane again)
The only way for me to select that plane again is through the "Outliner" window.

I have attached a file. I can't select the plane in the scene no matter where I click on the 3D view. :(

Thank you,can't select plane.blend

Does it work for you if you run Load factory settings and open that file with Load UI unticked?

No, I tried what you said and I couldn't still select the plane. I can only select it through the outliner. Even when I switch between right-click and left-click selection I can't still select it. But it only happens to planes, I can select the cube without problem.

@mano-wii I hope it's ok that I assign this to you as you have worked on the selection stuff recently.

I can also reproduce this issue if I open that file. However, if I disable Load UI it works. So there must be some setting screwing this up I think.
