Short description of error
Shift+Tab to remove tabs/spaces before text only seems to work for new text. Doesn't seem to work when copying and pasting text or opening a file that's been saved. I think this happens in 2.79 and as far as I know previous versions. I find myself spending most of my time copying and pasting to other text editors to remove tabs/spaces.

  • Is this affected by the View > Sidebar > Tabs as Spaces setting?
  • Does the file you copy/paste have use tabs or spaces for indentation?

OK, so I tested copying code that was tabs and unchecked the "Tabs as Spaces" and it seemed to work. I guess that explains why copying the text wasn't working. Still is weird having to define if it's spaces or tabs. Not sure of any other text editor you have to do this. Might not be a "bug" ,but sure is annoying, LOL.

I, with a friend @Victor Seiji Hariki (seijihariki), have developed a fix for this issue. This is our first contribution and we would like to know how to submit it for review! It seems it was a problem of converting tabs and spaces when pasting text.
