edit mode, subdivide smooth doesn't affect 2d meshes

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • add a plane and subdivide in edit mode
  • set smoothing value in f6 panel to 1

I would expect a subdivision followed by a vertex smooth of the selected points, but the extents of the mesh are not smoothed, (and neither is the rest)

I can confirm that, however since this never worked, it might even work like intended and this is a feature request. Not Sure. @Brecht Van Lommel (brecht), do you know more?

The smoothing algorithm here is pretty poor, but improving that is outside the scope of the bug tracker.
