Render Border area does not update when using the gizmo handles
Closed, ResolvedPublic

System Information
Operating system: MacOS 10.14
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB

Blender Version
Broken: Blender 2.80 beta, Jan 16th

Short description of error
The Render Border area does not update correctly when using the render region gizmo handles

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Switch to Cycles + Rendered View
  2. Go to Camera View
  3. Enable Border in Output > Dimensions
  4. While the camera is selected, drag the border gizmo handles to change the Render Border
  5. The actual rendered area doesn't update to change the render border

Here you can see how the render border is out of sync with the actual rendered area:

Even if you go out or Rendered view and back, the border still doesn't update. The only thing I found that will do it, is if you disable Border and re-enable it. Then the rendered border updates to the border set by the user.

Event Timeline

As an aside, to me it makes no sense that you can only modify the render border while the camera is selected. This seems like a rather strange limitation that users are not likely to guess or find out.

@Campbell Barton (campbellbarton): Is this even a deliberate limitation, or in fact another bug in itself?

IMO I think we should just make it so you can always drag the render border gizmo handles while in the camera view.

Looks like there is just some notification/tagging missing in gizmo_render_border_prop_matrix_set. Still trying to figure out which one to use.

Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) changed the task status from Invalid to Resolved.
