Short description of error

Hello guys! Thanks again for your hard work and help! Do you know why I can't use my 3D Mouse in Blender 2.8? I have a 3D Connexion Space Mouse Pro Wireless (it's like a joystick mouse). And works fine with Cinema 4D and Modo. But with Blender doesn't work fine. Thanks a lot!

The mouse works, but the pan, zoom, rotate movements are made without any control and precision. In Cinema 4D and Modo 3D programs, it works perfect. Should I change some settings in Blender preferences (input)?

Thanks!

JULIO

@Julio Ferrari (jfcalcena) Did you look at the settings under Preferences > Input > NDOF? Try fiddling with these to see if it helps. If not it's probably a bug.

I'm sorry... What does this initials mean? And what exactly should I change?
In "View Navigate" should I switch to "Orbit"? And in "View Rotation", should I switch to "Turnatable”? Because a few weeks ago, I already played with these settings and nothing has changed. I'll try with the version I downloaded yesterday. I’ll try at night in my PC home. Thanks a lot!

NDOF means N Degrees Of Freedom. It's a generic name for the device category in which the 3D Connexion Space Mouse belongs. Just like a Hoover is a kind of vacuum cleaner. I wish there was a better name for this other than NDOF though. Maybe '3D Input Devices' or something?

You can try to adjust those settings, but it might not fix your problem. It could be a bug.

@Sergey Sharybin (sergey) I believe you have an NDOF device? Can you reproduce the bug here?

Yes, I have a 3D Connexion Space Mouse Pro Wireless (it's like a joystick mouse), in the link of the product you can see how it is.

How can I reproduce? Recording a video? I do not know where I can post a gif or video here in the forum. I can even record, but you will only see on the screen of the recording, my viewport being moved without control and will not know how my hand is clicking on the button of the 3D mouse, will not know with what pace and speed and what movement I am reproducing. I do not know if a video recording my viewport would help in anything. Thanks again guys!

This isn't a forum... :(

But video is not enough for developers to fix the issue. Ideally, developer him/her-self should be able to reproduce the issue.

With my oldie 3d connexion device i can not see an issue...

Both, actually. But as said, it is a "Logitech, Inc. 3Dconnexion Space Navigator 3D Mouse", so no exactly the same hardware. Using latest drivers from 3Dconnexion btw.

@Julio Ferrari (jfcalcena), did it ever work for you? Maybe with Blender 2.79b?

Sorry about the "forum", my mistake.

Tested SpaceMouse-Pro on Linux, works as expected (same as 2.79 here).

@Campbell Barton (campbellbarton), Any chance you can test it on Windows? This is what the reports is about, and the GHOST part for that is different.

Hello guys! I joked all the way through the settings and just noticed that it changes the speed of the movements, changing the sensitivity of the settings. The rotational movements are reversed and everything goes on without precision and control. As I said, in Modo and Cinema 4D I did not have to configure anything and it works perfectly. Thanks!!

Tested on a friends computer w/o any 3d-connexion drivers installed, navigation with the SpaceMouse-Pro worked as expected in the 3D view (was able to redo T57305 though).

I can confirm that on Blender 2.8 (2019-01-18) on a Mac Pro with the SpaceMouse Wireless, I can only translate my point of view. Rotations do not work.

I'd tested in my Windows 10 Pro and OSX 10.12.6 Sierra and the issue it's the same in both systems. Today, 12 march, the issue remains. And i'd tested in Blender 2.79b and the issue it's the same. Both systems too.

I can confirm that the 3D mouse is not working correctly in current Blender. This is very annoying.
