light leaks in Cycles...? #60788

Operating system: Windows 8.1, i7, 32 GB RAM
Graphics card: 2x GTX 770

Blender Version
Broken: 2.8
each release
Worked: (optional): 2.79

Short description of error
I know that in Eevee there is alight leak in internal environment with external lights. But I'm not sure that also in Cycles this problem is normal. The same project in Blender 2.79 and Cycles has not light leaks in the edges of the walls.01.JPG

Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

We need a simplified .blend file to reproduce the problem, a screenshot does not give enough information.

In general there can be raytracing precision issues, though not typically in a scene like this.

OK. This is a semplified file.
2 rooms. The first one is a joint object (removing double vertices); the second one a separate object (ceiling, wall, floor).
In the second case, you ca see the light leaks on the edges between walls, ceiling and floor.
The same scene in 2.79 has no problem.

The walls have a bit of displacement, not only bump mapping. You can fix that by going to Material > Settings > Displacement Method and using Bump Only.

We plan to change the default because this is confusing for users who are used to the old defaults.
