Blender 2.80 - Incorrect rendering in viewport after adding a new material base color texture #61065

Short description of error
After creating a new material base color texture in the Texture Slot, the viewport render will only update to show the texture in Texture Paint mode, if you switch immediately to another mode (other than Weight Paint mode) the object will be rendered with the default (white) material.

workaround: You have to manually re-select the texture in the Image Texture node in the material

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
1 - File > New > General.
2 - Select "Texture Paint" tab.
3 - In "Texture Slot", add a new Base Color, default settings and pick a random color different than the default and OK.
4 - Switch to object mode.
