clipping border allows selection of clipped vertices when x-ray mode is disabled #61196

Operating system: Ubuntu 18.10
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Broken: 2.80beta, 690478027b

  • start blender with new profile
  • enter edit mode for default cube
  • deselect all
  • create clipping box with Alt-B that cuts half of cube
  • "C" for circle select, make circle large enough to encompass entire cube
  • alt-B to remove clipping mask; see that all vertices are selected

If x-ray mode is on, this doesn't happen.

@ideasman42 : selection was clipped in 2.79, could you check?

Thanks!

@ideasman42 I just tried 2.80beta 3d16a268ee from the website -- not sure if I should expect this to be fixed in that build? If so, there is still something broken: the default cube works as expected when a clipping border is in place, but if the cube is first moved away from origin (e.g. 2m in some direction) it does not work as expected: sometimes points that are clipped are selected, sometimes unclipped points can't be selected, etc, depending on orientation of the clipping pyramid, etc.

If I shouldn't expect it to work yet, apologies for the premature post.

@clepsydrae you're right, this wasn't working for transformed objects - fixed 2855feb2ae
