Cycles volume rendering issues when domain overlaps a plane #61490

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: gtx 760 and 1070

Blender Version
Broken: 2.79b(master, release) and 2.80

Shadows on intersecting geometry from Objects with volume shader yield unusable result when using object ray visibility settings.
With 2.80 using collections to set objects not visible in camera also fails to achieve this with volumes.

Desired result with volume objects would yield in a same result as done with node group(picture 2)

Doing camera visibility in the shader with nodes works .correctly

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Attached blend file(2.80)

  • run smoke simulation for a couple of frames and switch to rendered view
  • toggle object camera ray visibility
