Not sure I understand correctly:

  • has this file been exported from blender? (afaics the exporter should write texture(paths), cycles/nodetrees are probably not supported)
  • I can write a 3ds and import again, and if the textures are e.g. in the same folder than the 3ds, blender will import the 3ds back just fine...
  • please post the corresponding .blend file (including textures) you are exporting from
  • please also provide any additional information [does this only happen with PSDs? Does this only happen with absolute paths? Only with relative paths? etc...]

3DS does not export animation? When will it be at 2.8?

Bastien Montagne (mont29) claimed this task.

PSD is proprietary photoshop image format, Blender does not officially supports it at all (though some limited support is granted in Cycles using OIIO iirc).

3DS has been moved from 'official' support to 'community', which means blender core team won't port it to 2.8, community is welcome to do so.
