please try a nightly build from builder.blender.org

excuse me... but what? did you even read it? it doesn't even open. it just says, that with a black screen behind it. sorry if that sounds aggressive. but what info is needed? i stated the problem and what it did and what always happens. i haven't gotten Blender to even open yet.

excuse me... but what?

go to http://builder.blender.org and download the latest build available, to see if the issue is still there

did you even read it?

i did

it doesn't even open. it just says, that with a black screen behind it

That's why i'm suggesting trying a later build.

sorry if that sounds aggressive. but what info is needed?

Apology not accepted, there is no reason to be this agitated with people trying to help you

i stated the problem and what it did and what always happens. i haven't gotten Blender to even open yet.

And i gave you a possible solution and all you did is lash out at me ignoring my advise.

but what info is needed? i stated the problem and what it did and what always happens....

I think the information needed is the exact version of Blender that you are using. And you are
being asked if it does the same thing if you download a newer version from:

https://builder.blender.org/download/

again i am very sorry. I've been trying for the past three weeks and have made no progress. I've tried different versions. i'm very sorry, i know you were trying to help and i thank you for that. i shouldn't have lashed out at people just trying to help after i asked for help. thanks for the ideas, I hope they work! i have added the version i used, i hope that helps for info

newest non beta version is downloading now! fingers crossed!

This might be an error with your operating system and not blender. Searching "Bad Image Error" brings up a lot of results related to Windows. Some solutions might be to Restore to a previous point in time. Sorry, but this is the best advice I can give right now..

Please fill in your operating system details. Without this information it is difficult to help you.

darn. it didn't work. but i got closer then ever before!

yeah i don't think it'll ever work on this computer. it's a school one and it's really crappy and slow. i'll try again on my home computer, thanks for all the help! all of you!

Bad image is generally when you're trying to run the 64 bit version of blender on 32 bit windows. if you grabbed the 64 bit version of blender, give the 32 bit version a try.

OpenAL32 is something related to audio.
Check the sound card drivers. Try disable sound card.
