3D Mouse Orbit has sideways movement disabled

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Connect 3D Mouse (here: 3D Connexion SpaceMouse Pro), then activate Orbit Style >"Orbit" --> sideways movement of 3D mouse stick is disabled. Check Modo for an integration that works. (and yes it may not be a bug but a feature request but there is no link to feature request in the help menu of the application, just "Report a Bug"...

This is working as intended "Orbit" intentionally disables translation.
Hold shift to move the view or "Free" which is default and translates.
