Short description of error
Materials when viewed in orthographic view in LookDev are not always shaded correctly. Faces are lit as though they are facing a different angle. This gif demonstrates the problem:
It seems to be related to the orientation of faces relative to the view. For example, if you rotated that mesh 60° about the x axis, the discrepancy would still occur there on the bottom.
Non-metallic materials are also affected, but it isn't as easy to see the discrepancy. Similarly, the lower the roughness is, the harder it is to see, but it's still there.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
- Open the file. Set view to Front Orthographic in Lookdev.
