System Information
Operating system: win 10
Graphics card: 1070

Blender Version
Broken: blender-2.80-99d4321feff6-win64
Worked: no idea

simply trying to add an IK constraint to any bone.

i select a bone, i try to add the constraint

it returns this error "IK constraint can only be added to bones"

does not add the constraint to the bone

Maybe you are adding the constraint in the object constraints tab, instead of the bone constraints tab?

Maybe 532536bf52 was not such a good idea, we'll see what further feedback is.

@brecht Hehe, indeed, I think that was why the original papercut was added. But then again, it really would be inconsistent, given that we still show object properties while in Pose Mode.

One thing we could do, is to somehow make it visually clearer that you are adding constraints to a bone vs an object. We could add a bone or object icon in the Add Constraint popup menu.

if you cant add IK constraint to an object why is the option to do it there in object constraint tab ? cant you just remove the option ?

Currently I think they share the same menu contents, but yes, for objects we should not show the IK constraint.
