Lennard-Jones-Field Self Effect not working properly
Closed, ResolvedPublic

System Information
Operating system: Windows 8.1, 64 Bit
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80Beta, 009dbc2bc9fb, Branch: blender2.7, 2019-04-09,
Worked: Blender 2.79, 2017-09-11, 5bd8ac9

Error description:
Lennard-Jones-Field: Self Effect only works, if you additionally add a second Lennard-Jones-Field to the emitter itself which can
be removed again immediately. Self Effect also works without an additional force field, if you create the file in Blender 2.79 and
import it to Blender 2.8Beta or create it in Blender 2.8Beta and reload the saved file.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error:
Create a plane with scale factor 4 and with particle emission from faces (grid, resolution 10, emission start and end on frame 1,
lifetime 250), normal velocity and gravity field weight set to zero, render particle size (scale) set to 1 (and for better
visibility display paricle size set to 0.5 and Color "velocity" ). Add a Lennard-Jones-Field with Self Effect to the particle
system and start the animation. Nothing happens.

An you attach a sample .blend file (from 2.79)?

Here, I have attached two files with Lennard-Jones-Particles and Self Effect created in Blender 2.79 and 2.8 Beta. Please note that they will both work, because the problem with Blender 2.8 Beta is that Lennard-Jones-Particles with Self Effect only work, if you save it to a file, close and restart Blender and load the saved file. Loading a file saved in Blender 2.79 also works. Alternatively, instead of saving and reloading the file, you can add in Blender 2.8 Beta an additional Lennard-Jones-Field to the emission plane and delete it again immediately. Now start the animation and it will work. In Blender 2.79, creating a scene with Lennard-Jones-Particles and Self Effect already works without having saved it to a file or using any temporary Lennard-Jones-Field on the emission plane!

Sebastian Parborg (zeddb) raised the priority of this task from Needs Information from User to Confirmed, Medium.

I can confirm your observations on my end too. Thanks for the very thorough report.
