Worked: (optional)
Short description of error
Right clicking on a Collection to Select Objects and Move to collection (via M shortcut) won't move the objects to a new collection BUT right clicking -> Select Objects and then in the viewport doing Move to collection (via M) works.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Objects don't move (despite status message).
Working in viewport:
Objects are moved to the new collection.

This works as expected, and it won't change until we have synchronized selection between outliner and the viewport.
If you select the objects in the outliner and M from there, the objects will move.

@ZedDB this was not really duplicated. What is suggested in #55099 is to move selected objects upon creating a new collection.
@dfelinto yes? Is that not what this report is asking for too?
Well not exactly but you do create a new collection with the example steps.
Thanks for replying!
I'm confused. I 'Select Objects' in the outliner and M from there but they don't move.
If I drag a selection in the outliner and M, then it will move.
Right now, the status shows that the objects have been moved to the new collection but it doesn't move:
bug.blender.movetocollection2.mp4
It looks like the action of moving the objects should be fixed, the status of the action should be updated (as seen in the clip), or 'Select Objects' should be renamed so it's not associated with selecting objects via click/drag — just a thought.
Thanks!
