Short description of error
When running a rigid body simulation, it is not currently possible to apply transformation to freeze a specific frame. If you start scrubbing in the timeline, the object either goes back to original position or jumps to random position that was generated during the simulation.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
scrub in the timeline
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

I'm unsure if this is something that should be considered a regression. The behavior in 2.79 seems a bit buggy to as the animation resets on the start frame. So you haven't really "forzen" anything. The cache is just invalided it seems.

I do not see difference in behavior between 2.79b and current master.
Changes to object will indeed invalidate the cache, but its current implementation is still attempting to use cached frames even though they are marked as out of date.
This isn't really my area, and hopefully someone who works on a physics simulation will solve this.
