SceneStrip's Color Management settings overridden by video editor scene.
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Blender Version
Broken: blender-2.80.0-git.03bd024c077d-windows64

Short description of error
Difficult to judge if this is a bug or simply a limitation.

If I have a scene strip in a video editor scene, the Eevee settings from the SceneStrip's scene is applied in the final render result, but the View Settings and Display Settings (everything under Scene -> Color Management) are overridden by the video editing scene in the final render.

I can see the problems inherent in doing it any other way, but it means that my finely tuned color management settings from scene to scene are quietly ignored.
If this is by design, is there anything that can be done to get around this issue?

Not aware of a workaround.

Not sure if there should be? Since these are all view or display settings this is not applied into the IMBuf unless going to display or saving to disk [in certain cases].

@Sergey Sharybin (sergey), @Brecht Van Lommel (brecht): should this be supported? [something like a Save as Render option for scene strips?]
(If it should/could, then this is more like a TODO and not a bug I guess...)

Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) claimed this task.

While it would be good to support this, color all stay in scene linear space by design currently. There are ways to improve this design but it's outside the scope of the bug tracker.
