Short description of error
No matter where the orientation of the Gizmo is changed, this is not the same in both places, creating confusion, I think both should show the same regardless of where the change is made.

Right, this is currently per design (and I agree that it is confusing).

@William Reynish (billreynish) @Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) didn't we have a task for design issues like these?

As far as I remember the agreed solution (not yet implemented) is:

  • Remove the orientation setting from the move/rotate/scale tool settings in the header.
  • Keep the orientation in the gizmo popover as a per viewport override of the global scene orientation. This setting would be moved to the viewport rather than being per scene per tool.

Actually @Sebastian Parborg (zeddb), I did not see it was assigned to you. You could implement this if you want to.

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) we can keep this assigned to me for now. I have a bit of a triaging backlog now, so I don't know when I can get around to this.
