Bump Node in Cycles (Normal input) - strange result after 2.80.61
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Is this here to stay?
Will we have to copy every texture and change it to Non-Color?

Event Timeline

With Non-Color Data it works, but we get the need to copy the texture (becomes a big problem when the mix of textures grows).

Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) triaged this task as Needs Information from User priority.

Please use the bug reporting template, and attach a .blend file to reproduce the problem.

I hope this helps...

Looks like it might be related to this change, but we don't have a "linearize" node to solve the "problem" in a clean and easy way:

Is a Non-Color-Data copy of the same texture(s) the only solution? What if the setup is big and complicated (as in the image or worse)?

This was a bug.

Note a linearize node would basically be a Gamma node with power 2.2.
