Short description of error

The different ways in the active camera is shown isn't updating consistently, nor always correct

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • start with default scene (cube, light, cam)
  • add a 2nd camera, make it active and switch to cam view with Ctrl+Numpad0
  • use something like fly mode to get a good view of the cube
  • switch to Scene properties, note Camera is set correctly
  • delete the active camera with X
  • there's no active camera anymore, shown consistently:
    • Camera is empty in Scene properties
    • direction triangle of remaining cam is not filled
    • outliner doesn't show outline rectangle on camera objectdata
  • however, press F12, render works using the remaining camera
  • escape image view
  • select the remaining camera
  • move it a bit in 3D view
  • press F12, note that render is using new view
  • in Scene properties the Camera selection is now sometimes correct, sometimes still empty. Similar for camera objectdata icon in the outlienr. However, the direction triangle on the camera stays empty

I see a variant of this in d08312463b that does not involve the render command:

  1. Start with an empty scene, add a Cube and a Camera
  2. In the Outliner the camera data is (correctly) marked as the active camera
  3. Under Scene properties clear the active Camera
  4. The camera in the 3D view correctly loses its filled direction triangle, but the outliner still shows the active marker on the camera data
  5. Select the Cube, the outliner will now update and the camera is no longer shown as active
  6. Under the Scene properties make the camera active again
  7. The outliner incorrectly does not show the active camera marker
  8. Select the cube, the outliner updates to the correct state
